  • Airsoft and Brexit

    UK Leaving the EU

Strangely enough, we’ve not heard the word ‘airsoft’ mentioned in any of Boris’ Brexit plans, which must mean it has slipped down the priority list. Luckily, it still holds centre stage for us, and we’ll be keeping a firm eye on how the Brexit scenario will be affecting our favourite sport. Unfortunately, almost none of what we’ll be mentioning in this article is confirmed, as it feels that not even the people in charge know what’s happening. However, we wanted to put this together to look at the possibilities that could come with a (more than likely) No-Deal Brexit result and how our beloved airsoft will be affected. If you think we have missed anything, or if there is anything specific that you would like to see an article on, drop a comment below or reply to our social media posts on Facebook and Twitter!

  • An Insight into Biodegradable Airsoft BBs

Person wearing military clothes in wooded area

As a sport that relies heavily on remaining in players’ and non-players’ good books, the airsoft community is one that is constantly looking to keep up with modern times. Unlike hugely popular sports such as football or rugby, airsoft is very much its own boss (other than legal legislation, of course), meaning that we can all play a part in bending and shaping the sport to best suit the players. Due to the nature of the sport, rules are adjustable to suit certain scenarios and can differ from site to site. As part of ‘being our own bosses’, it’s important that we take external factors seriously, such as legal and environmental considerations.

Airsoft Gun with scope camera attached

It feels like the airsoft community has never been bigger, with more and more people picking up their gear and heading out to shoot up their buddies with plastic BBs. There are numerous reasons the community continues to grow, with people getting their friends involved, exhibitions and event days growing in size and scale, and technology helping to make airsoft accessible for various ages and abilities. However, perhaps one of the greatest drivers of growth is YouTube.

  • The Best Clothing for Airsoft in Summer

Man with airsoft gun in field

There are few things better in the summer than rounding up your buddies and heading to the field for a day of airsoft. With the warm weather, the memories of heavy rain, cold wind and icy feet seem to fade away. However, it’s important to remember that skirmishing during the summer isn’t always a sunny day experience, as it too brings its own series of challenges. We’ve covered on the blog before the various considerations that you need to be aware of when heading to the airsoft field in the summer, so in this article, we’ll be zeroing in on choosing the right clothing, from head to toe.

Although there are arguments for and against the use of cameras in airsoft, something we’ll touch on in a future blog post, there’s no denying that we’ve all marvelled at some of the epic sniper shots that have been caught on film. If you’re planning to start recording your airsoft gameplay or want to upgrade your current filming setup, then read on to see what we recommend for getting the best quality footage.

  • A Guide to Airsoft Brands – Part Three

    Airsoft Gun

Following on from part one and part two of our guide to airsoft brands, like the Terminator, we are back. One of the best problems with airsoft is the sheer number of manufacturers there are. Either specialising in bringing specific designs to market, or focused in bringing a range of setups and guns, either at great prices or with high performance (occasionally both). In this article, we take a look at another set of airsoft manufacturers and brands and uncover what they are all about. Like in previous articles, we'll group them as either a 'budget' or 'performance' brand; however, there will occasionally be some crossover.

  • What is a Bullpup Gun?

    Bullpup Rifle

For hundreds of years, classic rifles and firearms have used a ‘bulletproof’ technique of firing. The trigger, as with all weapons initiates the firing process with the firing action occurring either in line or slightly in front of the trigger. All the way from the very first matchlock guns in the 14th and 15th-centuries to the classic Colt models on the 1800s and 1900s and now with the modern rifles that come in all shapes and sizes, the style, although differing slightly, has been a uniform approach. That all changed when a significant innovation was introduced at the start of the 20th-century, the bullpup. But what exactly are these? Take a look below at our guide to bullpup weapons, their history and how they differ to classic rifles.

Make sure to let us know if there is anything that you think we have missed from the list or if there are any site-specific phrases that are used at your local site. You can find part one of the series here.

  • A Brief Guide to Race Guns

    Target Shooting

A race gun is a type of handgun, shotgun or rifle which has been modified to improve its accuracy, reliability and speed. These types of guns are primarily used in real steel practical shooting and similar competitions for the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC). Race guns are based on common guns and modified to function at their best within certain requirements of weight, size and capacity. This article features mostly on the real steel side of competitive shooting, however, competitive airsoft shooting is becoming more popular - you can read about that further down in the article.
