“You ain’t seen Bad Boys II?”. An often-quoted line from the Simon Pegg and Nick Frost classic Hot Fuzz, which still rings true today. If you haven’t seen Bad Boys II, then you should, even as it approaches its 17th birthday.
Eight years is a long time to wait for a sequel, but the second instalment of the series delivered in every way, with bigger gunfights, crazier action scenes and more hilarity from Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Known for their frankly alarming array of weaponry, Smith and Lawrence, who play police officers Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett respectively, bring out the big guns for the sequel (quite literally). Here, we take a look at some of the most iconic and badass guns used in Bad Boys II.
Pistols
We stock various airsoft pistols that replicate the iconic guns lists below, if you want to experience some of that movie magic for yourself.
Glock 17 & Glock 26
Making regular appearances throughout the film, both Glock models are seen, used by both leading characters along with Syd, played by Gabrielle Union. The Glock 17 is used most notably by Smith during two firefights; the Haitian fight scene and the KKK fight scene. The Glock 26 appears in the hands of Gabrielle Union as she defends herself from the Haitian gang members.
Sig-Sauer P226
Making frequent appearances throughout the film as this is the sidearm of choice for Lawrence’s character. This particular weapon is styled with a silver slide and black body, much like the Glocks used by Smith’s character.
This is perhaps one of the most commonly seen handguns at the movies, making over 100 confirmed appearances in films since its creation in 1984. Weighing just under a kilo, packing a 4.4-inch barrel and a 15-round capacity, the Sig-Sauer is something of a movie icon.
Beretta 92FS Inox
Also popping up in various gunfight scenes, the Beretta is used throughout the film, much like in the prequel. Often seen in the hands of enemies, such as the Haitian gang members and one of ‘Tapia’s cronies’, the Beretta 92FS Inox has made countless cinematic appearances throughout its lifetime, along with appearing in recent release Bad Boys For Life.
This small pistol weighs just under a kilo and has a 15-round capacity, making it the ideal handgun for the numerous ‘bad guys’ taken out during the film’s duration.
Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 629 Competitor
This meaty revolver also features in the KKK gunfight scene, with one of the gang holding it to Burnett’s head. This .44 Magnum calibre revolver and packs a 6-round capacity.
Unlike the other models, the Competitor comes with a custom weighted barrel and scope rails. This particular model has not made its way into too many films, although a couple of notable appearances are being used by Seth Rogen in Pineapple Express and by Dwayne Johnson in Fast Five.
Submachine Guns
MP5K, MP5SD & MP5A2
Produced by Heckler & Koch, these two submachine guns are seen throughout the film in the hands of various characters. The standard model is seen being fired in a wholly incorrect fashion by a bad guy, with the gun being held by the magazine and not the foregrip.
Additionally, the MP5SD is seen being used by Lowrey, with the gun having been fitted with a scope and a tactical flashlight underneath the barrel. Miami Metro characters are also seen using the MP5SD as they storm the mortuary. The MP5A2s are also seen during the raid on the mortuary; these are fitted with Surefire weapon lights.
Heckler & Koch UMP45
During the gunfight and chase at the intersection, both lead characters are seen holding and firing UMP45s. The UMP45 is noted for having a slower fire rate than .40 S&W along with having a transparent window running up the length of the magazine.
The .45 ACP model is fitted with a 25-round capacity, comes with a 7.9-inch barrel and weighs 2.4KG. The UMP has also been seen in other movies such as being used by various members of The Expendables including Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Randy Couture.
Rifles
AKM
There are numerous AKMs in the film, being wielded by different characters including Tito Vargas, played by Reynaldo A. Gallegos, and people in the Cuban Militia.
An improved version of the AK-47, the AKM was initially produced in 1959 and continues to be manufactured to this day. It comes from a family of well-known and iconic rifles, featuring the signature wooden stock and handgrip. Typically, these rifles weigh around 3.6KG and come with 10,20,30 or 40-round magazines, or 75 or 100-round drum magazines.
M16A2
Extremely popular and versatile rifles, the M16A2s are seen being used by various Miami Police officers during the shootout with the Haitian gang members. In addition, they are seen in the hands of the US Marines at Guantanamo Bay, although these are noted as being rubber props due to the filled-in barrels (if you look closely).
Heckler & Koch G36C
Making its main appearance during the rescue mission in Cuba, the G36C is seen in the hands of Burnett as he bursts out of a coffin firing the gun. This particular weapon is fitted with a red dot sight. Additionally, the rifle is seen during the freeway chase scene in the hands of an unnamed DEA agent.
One of the newest guns on this list, the G36C was initially produced in 2001 and continues to be manufactured. It is a 5.56 calibre rifle weighing 2.8KG with a nine-inch barrel. The G36C is also recognisable for having a cut out-style stock and top rail carry handle.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37 (Nickel)
Used by the Haitian gang members, the Ithaca 37 is a shotgun fitted with a pistol grip. This shiny shotgun is also used by the character Blond Dreads when he is tracked to his house by the two lead characters.
Most recently, the Ithaca 37 has been featured in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood held by none other than Leonardo DiCaprio.
Serbu Super Shorty
Seen in the hands of Syd, played by Gabrielle Union, the Serbu Super Shorty is pulled out in response to her car window being shot out by one of the gang members.
The super short shotgun began being manufactured in 1996 and continues to be produced in the present day. Despite this, its appearance in Bad Boys II is one of the first confirmed sightings of the shotgun on the big screen.

Other
M249 SAW
Used during the Cuban rescue mission, this LMG is used by one of the TNT members to kill Tapia’s guards and the Cuban soldiers. The gun is available with a 100 or 200-round ammo drum, although some variations include a fabric bag rather than a plastic drum.
Typically, these weapons only fire using a full auto fire mode and can achieve between 650 and 900 rounds per minute. The M249 SAW also appeared in the same film as Will Smith four years later, with an appearance in I Am Legend.
M141 SMAW-D
Also seen during the Cuban rescue mission, the M141 SMAW-D is used by Agent Tony Dodd as he fires a missile toward Tapia’s mansion. Initially launched (if you’ll pardon the pun) in 1999, the shoulder-launched multipurpose assault weapon (SMAW) is a disposable single-shot launcher.
The total length of the launcher when fully extended is just under 140cm, with the device weighing in at 7.1KG. The launcher’s purpose is to defeat hardened structures, rather than to be used against infantry.
