Bungie’s Destiny has provided inspiration for many 3D printers, thanks to the range of battle armour and weapons that can be seen throughout the game.
Usually, these designs get made in order to make cosplaying outfits look more realistic, by adding greater detail. One man has now taken things one step further, and created a pistol from the game, and it actually fires!
Designer Kirby Downey is known for creating weapons as seen in games. We have previously written about the Battlefield 4 gun he printed (found here, for those interested!), and he has now tried his hand at Destiny weapons.
Using a previous design he made for the Thorn Hand Cannon, Kirby tweaked the design to encase an airsoft pistol, meaning fans of Destiny will be able to pimp their pistol to create a more aesthetically pleasing sidearm.
Kirby’s design consists of 10 separate 3D printed parts, which took a total of two days to print in their entirety. These are fitted around the pistol with the aid of some metal support rods and few acrylic domes, in order to create the final piece.
If you would like to see the fully constructed and working sidearm, it can be watched in the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=62&v=7DyTKWmxrUo. He signs off the video with the promises of more to come, so it’ll be interesting to see what he creates next!
